How Quant Trading Labs uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, sessions, analytics and affiliate attribution, and how you can control them.

Introduction

Quant Trading Labs ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on quanttradinglabs.com and related subdomains (the "Service"). This Cookie Policy explains what these technologies are, how we use them, the choices you have, and how they help us provide a secure and useful experience.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data more broadly.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you do not have to re-enter information each time you return.

We use both session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them). We also use similar technologies such as local storage and pixels where appropriate.

Types of Cookies We Use

We group the cookies and similar technologies we use into four categories:

Strictly necessary cookies

  • Required for the Service to function. Without them, you cannot log in, access member content, or complete checkout.
  • These are set when you authenticate and include your session identifier and security tokens.
  • They cannot be switched off in our system, as doing so would disable core functionality.

Preference cookies

  • Remember your choices, such as display settings and consent decisions, so we can provide a consistent experience.
  • These are only set if you interact with the relevant feature.

Analytics cookies

  • Help us understand how visitors use the Service so we can measure and improve performance, reliability and content.
  • These are only set if you have consented to analytics. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

Affiliate attribution cookies

  • Used to attribute sign-ups to a referring affiliate partner. These cookies store a referral code and a hashed identifier for a limited attribution window.
  • They allow us to credit commissions correctly when a referred visitor registers within the attribution window.

Specific Cookies We Set

The table below lists the principal cookies and similar technologies used by the Service. Where a third-party provider is involved, the provider name is noted.

Authentication and session

  • Supabase auth tokens — session and refresh tokens issued when you log in. Session-scoped, refreshed periodically while you remain signed in.
  • Secure session cookie — set by our server runtime to maintain your authenticated session across requests.

Affiliate tracking

  • qtl_aff — first-party cookie storing the referral code of an affiliate partner. Persists for 30 days.
  • qtl_aff_ts — timestamp of the first affiliate click, used to calculate the attribution window. Persists for 30 days.

Preferences and consent

  • qtl_consent — records your cookie consent choices (which optional categories you have accepted or declined). Persists for up to 12 months.
  • qtl_theme — remembers your preferred theme (light or dark) if you have selected one.

Analytics (consent-required)

  • Analytics platform cookies — set by our analytics provider only after you have consented. Used to measure traffic, page views and engagement.
  • These cookies may collect aggregated, pseudonymous data and do not identify you personally.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party services we use to operate the Service. These providers may set their own cookies on your device when you interact with their features:

  • Payment providers (such as Stripe and PayPal) may set cookies during checkout and subscription management to prevent fraud and maintain session continuity.
  • Our analytics provider may set cookies, but only after you have consented to analytics.
  • Email and authentication infrastructure providers may use cookies to secure delivery and verify identity.

We do not allow third parties to use cookies on the Service for advertising or cross-site tracking purposes.

How Long Cookies Last

The duration of each cookie depends on its purpose:

  • Session cookies are deleted from your device when you close your browser.
  • Authentication tokens are refreshed while you remain signed in and expire shortly after you sign out.
  • Affiliate attribution cookies persist for 30 days from the first click.
  • Consent and preference cookies persist for up to 12 months, after which we will ask for your preferences again.
  • Analytics cookies persist according to the analytics provider's configuration and only while your consent remains valid.

Managing and Deleting Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being set. You can usually find these controls under "Settings" or "Preferences" in your browser menu.

If you disable strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to log in, access member content, or complete purchases. Disabling optional cookies will not prevent you from using the core features of the Service.

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and website data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions.

Affiliate Attribution

When you arrive at the Service via an affiliate partner's referral link, we set a first-party cookie to attribute your registration to that partner. This cookie contains a referral code and a hashed identifier — it does not contain your personal data.

Attribution follows a 30-day last-click model: the most recent affiliate click within the attribution window receives credit if you register within that window. The cookie is deleted after 30 days or once a registration is attributed.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no consistent industry standard for interpreting these signals, we do not currently respond to them in a different way from other requests. We do, however, respect your cookie consent choices and browser-level cookie settings as described in this policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies, legal requirements or Service features. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date shown above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service.
